Sound Improvements

Over the years, quite a number of parishioners have suggested that we improve the quality of sound in the church building. This is by no means an easy task. During Fr. Walsh's tenure at St. Margaret Mary the parish has attempted to do so with professional assistance on three separate occasions.

Before last summer, the parish engaged a professional acoustical consultant to complete a thorough study of our worship space to determine the primary issues of concern with the sound in our woreship space and to make recommendations for correction. The study uncovered several issues which can only be resolved through acoustical treatment of our worship space. However, there were also recommendations for speaker systems with technology not available when we last addressed our system.

This weekend we are trialing the recommended speaker system to determine if these might be a practical part of the overall solution for the improvement of sound for our worship. The speakers have been temporarily installed, and permanent placement would be completed if it is determined that these speakers will be part of our total solution.

We are eager to hear your feedback on the performance of the speakers. Please send an e-mail with your comments on the performance of these speakers to kevin@stmargaretmary.org, or call Kevin Hagan at (407) 998-5662.

Also, after considering several alternatives for the acoustical design, the parish has engaged an organization to complete designs for treatment of the walls, maintaining the original design considerations as much as possible. The designs by that consultant have been received and we have begun estimating the cost of completion of those improvements.

We invite you to follow the links below to review the journey we have taken to determine the best ways to improve our sound with fiscal responsibility, while improving sound such that we can move closer toward our mision goal of placing full conscious active participation in our liturgy above all else.

The following links will become available by Sunday, November 13.
