High School Youth Ministry

The Vision for High School Youth Ministry at St. Margaret Mary parish is rooted in and grows from the Good News of our Risen Lord. Our mission is to help deepen young people’s relationship with Jesus Christ, empower them to live as disciples of Jesus in our world today, draw young people to participate in the life of the Catholic faith community, and foster the total personal growth of each young person by providing developmentally appropriate experiences, activities, and content that address the unique developmental and social needs of young adolescents.

Youth

Youth Group

This is a time for high school students to get together with friends, both old and new for fellowship, faith, and fun. We meet two Sunday’s a month from 7:15-9pm. One of our gatherings will be at Tijuana Flats and the other in the Youth Room. This is a wonderful time for young people to build community with other Catholic youth!

Confirmation

Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace and is offered to 9th graders at SMM. It is the Sacrament that gives us the Holy Spirit to help root us more deeply as children of God, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with Her mission, and help us to bear witness to our faith in words and deeds. Three class sessions are offered throughout the fall and winter to prepare for the Sacrament.

Retreats

Retreats

Retreats refresh and revitalize. They allow time for focused prayer and contemplation, and help rekindle and deepen one’s relationship with others and God. Retreats allow us a chance to leave behind the usual distractions to provide time to reflect on who we are to be. Ongoing conversion of the heart is critical to deepening our faith. Please look forward to retreats this year in the fall, winter and spring.

Service

Coalition for the Homeless
Join us 2nd Wednesday of each month to prepare a meal for the homeless men and women of Orlando. We take our meal downtown to the shelter and serve it there, and return for sharing/reflection. Email Michaela or Sandi for more info.

Thanksgiving & Christmas Stores
We always need lots of help collecting, organizing and serving those in need who come through our Thanksgiving and Christmas Stores to get food, clothes, toys, etc. Please check our calendar for dates.

Liturgical Ministry
We are in need of individuals to be Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Lectors, and Ushers during Mass. Please check out the Liturgy website.

Choir- Instrumentalists and Singers
“Singing is praying twice.” Music is a wonderful way to praise God. We are looking for individuals to join our Choirs. All instrumentalist and singers are invited to join our Margaret Mary Choir (9:30am Mass) or our Sunday Evening Music Ensemble (6pm Mass). Please see the Musicwebsite for more information.

CHWC
Join us and be Christ’s hands and feet at this week long experience which combines faith, service, and fun with hundreds of other youth from around the country.
