Ministry of Mothers Sharing
(MOMS)

What is the Ministry of Mothers Sharing?
The Ministry of Mother Sharing (MOMS) leads a group of women through a program of personal and spiritual growth.

Through discussions and journaling, these women begin to understand how their daily experiences and reflections are intimately tied to their relationship with God.

Registration information

New MOMS is the first step and is an 8 week session of self-discovery, mutual support and prayer with a small group of women who follow a structured program to create an inner awareness of the sacred self and to build community among mothers.   We offer both an evening and a morning option depending on response.

Is this a parenting class or support group?
No. Trained facilitators are women who have already been through the Ministry of Mothers Sharing program. They will guide you through the book MOMS: A Personal Journal covering such topics as self-esteem, self acceptance, stress, worries and anxiety, spirituality, feelings, personal growth, and expressing your values in friendships.

I have never really been involved at church?
Many MOMS relate that this program was their first parish/church activity.

Is this program limited to mothers of a certain age?
We welcome all types of moms: mothers with young children, school age, adult children, grandchildren, married, single, step moms, working, and stay-at-home. A diverse group of women provides a variety of perspectives and opportunities for lively discussions.

I want to get more involved in our church community, but MOMS doesn’t seem like serving anyone but me?
The Ministry of Mothers Sharing is an on-going peer ministry designed to encourage prayer discussion and friendships between mothers of all ages. In MOMS women minister to each other sharing their stories and listening to each other. The Ministry of Mothers Sharing helps women acknowledge their gifts and use them to benefit and strengthen their families as well as their Christian community. MOMS is a wonderful first step for those who want to become more active in the church. 50% of participants have continued in on-going study groups and have been more active in the church.

How much of a time commitment do I need to make?
MOMS is an eight week program that meets once a week for two hours. Morning and evening sessions are available. Journaling is done at home and shared during the weekly sessions.

I am already busy. How can I make time for the Ministry of Mothers Sharing?
The Ministry of Mothers Sharing is just for you! It is important that you spend time focusing on your personal and spiritual growth. The time you spend on yourself enhances your family life and your relationship with God.

What happens at the end of the eight-week program?
We have two continuing MOMS programs one in the morning and one in the evening. In these programs we have discussions on books and topics relating to spirituality. There are also opportunities to facilitate the Ministry of Mothers Sharing programs and serve on the core team.

Personal Experiences
The Ministry of Mothers Sharing taught me that the everydayness of my job as a mother can be truly holy. I have learned that I can affect others around me in a Christian way, not just as an example but maybe more so when I ask for help. For a mother of any age or experience MOMS can be an awesome revelation and a wonderful affirmation of the path you’ve chosen. - Gracie Mazanec

As a new mother, the Ministry of Mothers Sharing has helped me to understand the spiritual significance and importance of motherhood. I now see my everyday experiences, no matter how mundane some may seem, as an important ministry to my children. - Laura Jones

From all I have heard and seen the Ministry of Mothers Sharing program is a wonderful opportunity for mothers of all ages to surface their God-given spiritual values and to discover their rightful place in the church. - Father Walsh

Continuing MOMS

§        Continuing Moms/Daytime Group: The mission of Continuing MOMS at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church is to expand the spiritual growth of women by the MOMS and provide a supportive, nurturing, welcoming community for mothers.  We will achieve this through meetings that involve prayer, gospel reflections, group discussion, special guests and applications to family life.  By growing closer to Christ, we will be better, loving servants of our family, church and community.  This group meets the third Tuesday of each month in the Upper Room. You must have completed the 8-week program prior to joining this group.

§        Continuing Moms/Evening Group:  This is another option for mothers who have completed the 8 week program and embraces the above mission of MOMS and offers a special community for working moms. This group meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month, 7-9pm in Holy Grounds. You must have completed the 8-week program prior to joining this group.

Please contact Lori Reinneck at the Family Life office for more details. 407-645-0284 or e-mail: lori@stmargaretmary.org. Babysitting is available for most groups.
